In 2015/16, more than 120 people registered to vote in their local elections
IRMO is a founding member of the Coalition of Latin American Organisations in the UK (CLAUK). We actively work with partners to raise the profile and visibility of the Latin American community in the UK. As a coalition, our three main campaign focuses are recognition, employment rights and access to health services.
As a result of this joint campaigning, Latin Americans have been recognised as an ethnic group in the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Hackney and Islington. This recognition has brought important changes for the Latin American population, fostering social inclusion at all levels from access to services to political representation.
IRMO has also been working actively with a number of partners on issues that affect all migrant communities. As well as co-leading the #MigrantsContribute campaign, IRMO supports the voter registration campaign. Our registration drives resulted in more than 120 people registering to vote last year. This is an important way of improving the visibility of the Latin American community.
